On Wednesday the Boiling Springs track team competed in the Region III-5A championships held at Nation Ford High School where Bulldogs sophomore Carmello Martin put on an impressive performance.
In the boys side of the meet Martin accounted for two of the three region championships for the Bulldogs on Wednesday. Martin picked up his first championship running a time of 11.18 seconds in the 100m dash finals defeating second place by five tenths of a second. He grabbed his second region championship by coming away with the victory in the 200m dash finals with a time of 22.17 seconds finishing 1.1 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Sophomore Spencer Eison picked up the third region championship for the Bulldogs in the 400m hurdles where he won in a time of 1:03.68, fourth tenths of a second ahead of second place. Eison also picked up a third place finish in the 110m hurdles finishing less than a second behind region champion Damon Evans from Clover. The Boiling Springs boys 4x400m relay team also came away with a second place finish at the region championships on Wednesday. On the girls side of the meet eighth grader Sydney Watson came away with a second place finish in the 400m hurdles event while sophomore Amiah Ellis picked up a second place finish in the long jump. The next Boiling Springs track event will come at the 5A qualifiers on May 15 to be held at Spring Valley High School in Columbia, SC. Comments are closed.
