SPARTANBURG, SC - On Saturday the Coaches Classic track event was held at Spartanburg High School where many of our local athletes had strong showings as they prepare for the upcoming region and county meets.
Boiling Springs saw junior sprinter Carmelo Martin set a school record in the 100m while winning the meet in a time of 10.55 seconds, though the record is unofficial because of wind at the event on Saturday. The Bulldogs also saw junior Spencer Eison win the triple jump event with a distance of 43'8.5" and sophomore JoJo Barrett finish in fifth place of the same event. The Bulldogs 4x400 boys relay team finished in ninth place with a time of 3:44.18. Boiling Springs freshman Sydney Watson came home with a second-place finish in the 400m girls hurdles with a time of 1:09.54 just ahead of Chapman's Polly Addington who finished in third place. Chapman's Emma Whitaker captured first place in the girls 800m with a time of 2:27.42 while also winning the girls 1600m event with a time of 5:21.47. Chapman's Polly Addington finished in third place of the girls 100m hurdles event with a time of 16.70 while Boiling Springs' Calayah Davis came home with an eighth-place finish. Chapman's Gabrielle Borum grabbed second place in the girls discuss event with a distance of 124'. Chesnee's KJ Valentine came away with a tenth-place finish in the boys 200m event while the Eagles boys 4x100m relay team came home with a seventh place finish with a time of 44.16 seconds. Garrett Williams grabbed a ninth place in the boys discuss with a distance of 112'06". Boiling Springs will be hosting the Bulldog Invitational on Saturday April 2nd that will see the first events beginning at 9:00 AM. Comments are closed.
