On Friday night the Boiling Springs girls lacrosse team hosted their first region matchup of the season falling to Clover 14-1 as the Bulldogs were unable to get much going offensively in front of the home crowd.
While the Bulldogs struggled to find the goal themselves they also had to deal defensively with the attack from Blue Eagles players Summer Davis and Amelia McCauley who combined to score twelve of Clover’s fourteen goals on Friday night. Clover took an early 1-0 lead when Emma Bailey took a shot from the left side of the goal amongst a group of Bulldogs and Blue Eagles players that found the bottom left of the net just two minutes into the game. The Bulldogs responded just a minute later when midfielder Mia Lockwood took a sidearm shot that bounced from ten yards out and found the right side of the net tying the game at 1-1. Unfortunately for the Bulldogs it was the only goal they were able to score on Friday night despite having twelve shots at the goal. Clover retook the lead and extended their lead to 3-1 on back-to-back goals from midfielder Amelia McCauley with the second goal coming off an assist from behind the net from attacker Summer Davis. Davis scored her first goal of the game off a penalty shot from the middle of the field to give Clover a 4-1 lead. After another set of back-to-back goals from McCauley Davis scored her second goal of the game on another penalty shot, this time starting from behind the net before coming around the right side and crossing the front of the goal with a shot to give the Blue Eagles a 7-1 halftime lead. Davis opened the second half with another goal after racing down the right side of the field to put Clover up 8-1 just two minutes into the half. McCauley scored her third set of back-to-back goals that took her just over a minute to score that started with just sixteen minutes left in the game. Over the last twelve minutes of the game Davis scored three of the last four goals for Clover with the only score not from Davis coming off a shot by midfielder Mackenzie Linn. Boiling Springs will return to action on Tuesday in an out-of-region matchup at home against Christ Church. Comments are closed.
