The Christmas break will be a little extra enjoyable for the Boiling Springs boys basketball team as they defeated the Ridge View Blazers 46-45 on Saturday night to capture the Shootout By the Sea basketball tournament at North Myrtle Beach High School. The Bulldogs overcame a nine point halftime deficit to walk away with the championship. Seth Hewitt led the Bulldogs in the championship game with twenty points and nine rebounds. The Bulldogs trip to the championship game started on Thursday with a 69-52 victory over Wren and was followed up on Friday night with a 64-60 victory over John Champe out of Virginia. Boiling Springs' junior Kamal Desor was named MVP of the tournament while fellow junior teammate Chance Guest was named to the All-Tournament team. Desor averaged sixteen points for the tournament highlighted by an impressive twenty three point game against John Champe on Friday night. "I'm really proud of the toughness that our team showed during this tournament," said Bulldogs head coach Hal McManus. "We got down at times but our team never gave up and we were able to capture the championship." The Bulldogs will be off for the Christmas break and will return to the court January 3rd when they host the Chapman Panthers. Comments are closed.
