Boiling Springs was unable to overcome some key runs by Byrnes as they fell to the Rebels 3-0 on Thursday night in the regular season finale for both teams. In set one both teams battled back and forth as there were ten lead changes between both teams with the last lead change coming when the Rebels took a 18-17 lead. After the final lead change Byrnes went on an 8-2 run to capture a 25-19 win over the Bulldogs in set one. The second set was another close one as both teams were tied four different times in the match with the last time being at 19-19 before Byrnes went on a 5-1 run. With the Bulldogs trailing 24-20 they were able to score three straight points with one being an ace serve from Madison Gregory before the Rebels captured the final point winning the set 25-23 to go up 2-0 in the match. "I felt like in game one and game two we had some good momentum but we just couldn't get consistent and Byrnes just kept chipping away," said Bulldogs head volleyball coach Allyson Elliot. "Byrnes really battled us tonight and we couldn't get things to fall our way like they did Tuesday night." The third set was all Rebels as they started the match leading 3-0 before the Bulldogs tied it up at 3-3. The Rebels then outscored the Bulldogs 22-12 the rest of the match to win the set 25-15 and win the overall match 3-0. While the Bulldogs season didn’t end how they wanted they still have hopes for the 5A playoffs that begin on October 24th.
