As a cold front started sweeping through the Upstate of South Carolina on Wednesday afternoon, even the blistering cold wind couldn't spoil the Boiling Springs track team's first home meet in three years. In a duel meet against Fort Mill the Bulldogs used their home meet as a tune-up for their upcoming region III-5A meet and the Bulldogs had some strong showings on Wednesday afternoon to take them into next week.
Boiling Springs sophomore Carmello Martin gave the Bulldogs their first win of the night in the 100m winning with a time of 10.84 seconds, sixth tenths of a second ahead of second place. He also added another victory in the 200m coming away with the victory in a time of 22.02 seconds. Bulldogs eighth grader Kendall Garner also had a strong night of the girls side of the sprint races as she gave Boiling Springs their second win of the match in the 100m with a time of 13.41 seconds while also adding another victory for the Bulldogs in the 200m with a time of 28.59 seconds. The Boiling Springs 4x100m boys relay team also picked up a victory defeating the Yellow Jackets by over a second with a time of of 45.01 seconds as the girls 4x100 team also added another win with a time of 55.61 seconds. Bulldogs eighth grader Sydney Watson won the 100m girls hurdles with a time of 19.29 seconds finishing just .04 seconds ahead of sophomore teammate Amiah Ellis. Watson also picked up her second victory of the day in the girls 400m hurdles with a time of 1:16.10. Fellow eighth grader Shamon Black repeated the same feat as Watson in the 110m boys hurdles with a time of 17.30 seconds finishing just .04 seconds ahead of sophomore teammate Spencer Eison. In the girls 1600m event, Bulldogs junior Emilia Sen came away with the victory in a time of 6:14.20 while Bulldogs senior Jake Skory had a battle to the line in the boys 1600m event with Fort Mill's Evan Ickert crossing the line just ahead of Skory who finished the event in a time of 5:04.33. Boiling Springs eighth grader Kei'xyhjaih Bobo won the 400m event in a time of 56.54 seconds. In the girls 3200m event Gabriela Sanchez came away with a second place finish just four seconds off the winning time of Fort Mill's Angeline Kravitz who finished in a time of 14:00.16. Bulldogs sophomore Amiah Ellis also picked up a victory for the Bulldogs in the girls long jump with a distance of 14'10" just ahead of eighth grade teammate Sydney Watson who came away with a distance mark of 14'4". The Bulldogs will take the positive results from Wednesday afternoon into the region meet that will take place on April 28th at Nation Ford High School. Comments are closed.
