BOILING SPRINGS, SC - The Boiling Springs track team had one last tune-up event before they host the Bulldog Invitational on Saturday as they competed against Clover on Wednesday night.
Boiling Springs junior Jacob James came away with a victory for the Bulldogs in the boy’s 400m hurdles as he won a head-to-head battle to the line against Clover's Austin Brothers. The Bulldogs also got a victory in the boy’s 200m event as Carmelo Martin finished the event in a time of 21.49 which was two seconds faster than the next closest runner. Boiling Springs also came away with a victory in the boy's 4x400m relay event with a time of 3:44.18, which was over one second ahead of second place, and they also picked up a win in the 4x100m boy's relay event with a time of 44.89. In the 400m junior De'Marco Thomas finished in second place with a time of 53.97 just ahead of fellow junior Spencer Eison. Eison also came away with a second-place finish in the boy's triple jump with a distance of 43' 3" which was just short of Clover's Nashon Suchanek mark on Wednesday. Bulldogs' sophomore Jared Chinloy-Mickens came away with a second-place finish in the boy’s 100m event with a time of 11.66 while Keo Keenon was just a tenth of second behind in fourth place. Boiling Springs freshman Dakota Smith won the girl’s 400m event with a time of 1:03.97 which was almost two seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. The Bulldogs also got a victory in the girl’s 400m hurdles as freshman Sydney Watson finished the event in a time of 1:11.00 while they also got a second-place finish in the event from fellow freshman Calayah Davis. Amiah Ellis got the Bulldogs a win in the girl’s long jump event with a distance of 15' 2.7" and Boiling Springs also got a win in the 4x100m girl's relay event with a time of 52.47. Emilia Sen grabbed a second-place finish for the Bulldogs with a time of 2:57.82 in the 800m event and was followed closely behind by Bulldogs freshman Navy Turner, who finished in third place for the same event. The Bulldogs Gabriella Sanchez also came away with a second-place finish in the 1600m event. Boiling Springs freshman Autumn Brooks came away with a second-place finish in the girl's 100m event with a time of 13.56. The Bulldog’s Hope Steadman also came away with a second-place finish in the shot-put event with a distance of 26'5" while also getting a second-place finish in the girl's javelin event with a distance of 59'9". The Bulldogs will now focus on the Bulldog Invitational on Saturday that will see quite an impressive field that includes Byrnes, Chesnee, Clover, Eastside, Gaffney, Greer, Nation Ford, Riverside, Seneca, Southside, Southside Christian, Spartanburg, Traveler's Rest, and Wade Hampton as the event will kick off at 9:30 AM.
