In an unscheduled road trip on Tuesday afternoon, the Boiling Springs tennis team traveled to pick up Nation Ford to pick up a pivotal 4-2 region victory over the Falcons. A match that was originally scheduled as a home match for the Bulldogs saw them take the long trip to the greater Charlotte area and come away with an important victory towards region play. "This is a huge win for our team," said Bulldogs head coach Jill Cooke. "We were originally supposed to have a home match today but with the weather we were having locally and they weren't experiencing the same thing allowed us to flip the home matches. I'm so proud of the girls for pulling together in a rush while going so far away and battling to the bitter end." The Bulldogs saw all four of their top four seeds come away with victories as number one seed Madison Ball came away with the victory (6-3, 6-1) to start the match on the right foot for the Bulldogs. Sydney Braswell followed Ball at the number two singles with another victory defeating her opponent (6-2, 6-2). Emily Krechko and Kaiden Price both came away with victories in tiebreakers as Krechko defeated her opponent (7-5, 6-6, (7-3)) at number three singles and Price won (6-4, 3-6, (10-8)) at number four singles. Boiling Springs will return to the court on Thursday when they travel to Clover before hosting Nation Ford on Monday. Bulldogs Volleyball Falls In Nail Biter To FalconsThe Boiling Springs tennis team wasn't the only team to compete against Nation Ford on Tuesday as the Bulldogs volleyball team fell 3-2 in an extremely competitive home match.
In the match the Bulldogs fell behind 2-0 before a brief intermission in the match that saw Boiling Springs become a whole different team. The Bulldogs jumped ahead 2-0 to start the third set until the Falcons were able to tie the set at 5-5 before back-to-back kills by seniors Savannah Page and Logan Kenny reestablished the Boiling Springs lead. The Falcons were unable to get any closer in the set as the Bulldogs even extended their lead to eight points before Kenny came away with a block to give Boiling Springs a 25-20 victory in the third set. In the fourth set it was all Bulldogs as they took an early 1-0 lead and even went on an eight point run that saw both a spike kill and block kill from Kenny along with two ace serves from Gracie Kilgore. Cloe Wood pushed the Bulldogs lead to 24-14 on a spike kill to the middle of the Falcons defense before a mistake by Nation Ford gave the Bulldogs a 25-14 set victory while also tying the match at 2-2. Both teams battled hard in the fifth set as the Falcons took a 2-0 lead before a kill by Kenny and block by Wood tied the set at 2-2. With the Bulldogs trailing 8-7, Wood made the most impressive point of the match as she dove into the bench for a ball going out of bounds and with one hand sent it back over the net where it fell in between multiple Falcons players to tie the set at 8-8. From that point the Falcons went on a 7-3 run to end the set to claim a 15-11 set win and a 3-2 match victory over the Bulldogs.
