On Tuesday afternoon the Boiling Springs tennis team defeated the Riverside Warriors 6-1 in a key region matchup behind an Impressive performance by their singles. The Bulldogs with the victory improves to 6-2 and keeps its hold on third place in Region II-5A.
Boiling Springs didn't lose a singles match on Tuesday night and the only loss came in number two doubles in a tie breaker. The Bulldogs were led by senior Anna Greer, junior Abigail Bragg, and seventh grader Ava Bragg as they all defeated their opponents 6-0, 6-0. The Bulldogs also got impressive victories from Mallory Cooper (6-1, 6-1) and Sydney Braswell (6-2, 6-0) in number four and five singles. When asked about the performance from her singles on Tuesday night Boiling Springs head tennis coach Jill Cooke said, "I'm just so proud of them, they are all such good girls. We have quite a range of experience especially with those top three as Anna is a senior, Abigail is a junior and Ava is a seventh grader." Coach Cooke said that even with her number two doubles team losing in a tiebreaker she is extremely proud of how they have improved this season. "I'm very proud of the two doubles," said Coach Cooke. "They have really improved other the second half of this season." The Bulldogs tennis team will return to action on Thursday as they travel to Dorman for another important region matchup.
