On Thursday night the Boiling Springs swim team sent their seven seniors out with a victories over both Emerald and Oakbrook Prep in their final home meet. The Bulldogs won the meet 231-85 over Oakbrook and 223-98 over Emerald in their final meet before the Region III-5A championships.
The seven Bulldogs swimmers that were honored on Thursday night included Luke Olson, Jamie Wade, Lauren Agnew, Makenzy Carothers, Katelyn Mazurowski, Mary Lauren Reese, and Molly Verdell. "The team came out with victories across the board tonight as tonight was about having fun and celebrating our seniors," said Bulldogs head swim coach Lanie Peden. "All seven of these swimmers have been great role models to our younger guys and will be missed." The Bulldogs came away with victories in seventeen of the twenty-two events which started with a win by four of the seniors in the girls 200y medley relay where Molly Verdell, Lauren Agnew, Katelyn Mazurowski, and Makenzy Carothers won in a time of 2:01.34. The Boiling Springs boys 200y medley relay team (Will Humphreys, Ashton Threadgill, Samuel Jouault, and Garrett Watson) made it two in a row as they won their event as well in a time of 1:49.10. Humphreys and Mary Lauren Reese both won their events in the 200y freestyle for the Bulldogs followed by both Lauren Agnew and Ashton Threadgill winning their events in the 200y individual medley. Molly Verdell won the 50y freestyle for the Bulldogs before the first non-Bulldog won a race as Oakbrook's Drew Smiley won the boys 50y freestyle with a time of 23.58. Katelyn Mazurowski and Garrett Watson both won in the 100y butterfly events followed by Camryn Duncan and Will Humphreys both coming away with wins in 100y freestyle events. Laney Moore followed those events with a win in the 500y freestyle event for the Bulldogs before another win by Smiley for Oakbrook. The Bulldogs came away with wins in the girls 200y freestyle relay along with the 400y freestyle relay while also picking up a win in the boys 400y freestyle relay with a time of 3:31.04. Katelyn Mazurowski and Garrett Watson finished up the wins for the Bulldogs on Thursday night as they both picked up victories in the 100y breaststroke events. After enjoying sending their seniors out with victories Boiling Springs will now have a week to prepare for a very tough region championship event. "We have week of very important training and then off to our region meet in Fort Mill," said Peden. "We have some key races that need to drop time to maximize the number of swims we will have heading into the state championship." The Bulldogs will be competing in the Region III-5A championships in Fort Mill on Saturday, October 3rd. Comments are closed.
