On Wednesday evening the Boiling Springs softball team came away with their second straight road win defeating JL Mann 12-2 in an out-of-region contest after defeating Gaffney 7-1 on Tuesday night.
Boiling Springs got the scoring started in the top of the first inning when Olivia Hall worked a walk before Sammy Quinterro, who was pinch running for Hall, stole second base and came around to score on a Bri Stanley double to right field giving the Bulldogs an early 1-0 lead. JL Mann was able to tie the game in the bottom of the first inning when the Patriots Mac Ellis tripled in a teammate who had reached on a Bulldogs error, to even the score at 1-1 after the first inning. Both teams went scoreless over the next two innings but in the top of the fourth inning the Bulldogs started to break the game open with a four run inning. Ragan Bristol started the inning with a double to centerfield before Bri McAbee, who was pinch running for Bristol, extended the Bulldogs lead to 2-1 when Stanley hit another double to right field. Saydee Parris made the Bulldogs lead 3-1 when she singled to right field bringing home Stanley before Parris moved to second base on a Kate Philbeck single to right field. Both Parris and Philbeck came around to score a few batters later on a Hailey Owens single to the right side putting the Boiling Springs lead at 5-1 after their half of the inning was done. The Patriots added a run in the bottom of the fourth inning to put the Boiling Springs lead at 5-2 but the Bulldogs soon got back to work in the top of the fifth inning. Bristol singled to right field to start off the fifth inning before her pinch runner, Bri McAbee, made the score 6-2 by coming around to score on a Stanley double to left field. Stanley advanced to third base on a Jaycie Osment single to left field before extending the lead to 7-2 on a sacrifice fly to right field by Parris. Prior to Stanley scoring Osment stole second base and then pushed the Boiling Springs lead to 8-2 on a Jacie Ross double to centerfield before Ross herself came around to score on a double to centerfield by Owens to make the score 9-2 in favor of the Bulldogs. In the top of the sixth inning Bristol reached base on a single to centerfield before McAbee, who was pinch running, moved to second on a Patriots error that also allowed Stanley to reach base. McAbee and Stanley pushed the Bulldogs lead to 11-2 when they came around to score on an Osment triple to left field. Osment gave the Bulldogs a 12-2 lead when she scored on a single to centerfield by Parris putting Boiling Springs ahead by ten runs which ended the game after six innings. Boiling Springs was led on offense by Bri Stanley who went three of four at the plate including two doubles and three RBIs. Ragan Bristol joined Stanley with three hits of her own while Saydee Parris and Hailey Owens tied Stanley with three RBIs each. The Bulldogs also got a strong combined pitching effort from Olivia Hall and Hailey Owens on Wednesday night.
