On Monday afternoon the Boiling Springs golf team completed one of their main goals going into the season as they captured the Region II-5A golf championship at River Falls with a team score of 303 followed by Bynres (315) in second place and Dorman (347) in third.
"We played really well today and I'm very proud of the girls," said Bulldogs head coach Shannon Turner. "We set goals at the start of the season and this was the first one we wanted to check off." Coach Turner said that now that the team has accomplished their first goal she can tell that her team is focused on accomplishing the rest of their goals as well just by their attitude after the region tournament. "The girls are ready to get back to practice tomorrow," said Coach Turner. "They've already been telling me what they need to work on tomorrow to get ready for Upper State next week." The Bulldogs had three players be named to the All-Region team on Monday afternoon as MK Talledo shot a seventy, Madison Dixon shot a seventy-one, and Amber Amaker shot a seventy-five to help lead Boiling Springs to victory. Talledo with her score of seventy also was the medalist runner up behind Mauldin's Emily Dunlap who shot a sixty-nine on Monday. The seventy was especially impressive for Talledo though as her first tee shot of the game didn't go exactly how she had planned it. "I got off to a rough start after hitting my tee shot into a hazard," said Bulldogs golfer MK Talledo. "I think I did okay though and was able to get a bogey out of that." With the victory on Monday the Bulldogs qualified for the Upper State tournament that is going to be held on Monday in Rock Hill. The Bulldogs will look to qualify for the state championship with a good outing on Monday to check off the final goal on that preseason list according to Coach Turner. "Our ultimate goal is to be at state." Comments are closed.
