BOILING SPRINGS, SC - As the Boiling Springs football and volleyball teams prepare for their upcoming seasons, both teams wanted to invite the public to some preseason events this week to introduce their teams to the public.
The first event will be by the Boiling Springs football team on Monday as they host a scrimmage on August 8th at 6:00 PM at their home stadium. New head football coach Matt Reel says he wants to give the community an opportunity to see the effort that his players have been putting in this offseason and for his players to see the support they have from the community. "Our guys have been putting in a lot of hard work this offseason with nobody watching and I want to give both the community a chance to see the team and our players a chance to show off their hard work," said Reel. "I want these guys to see how much support they have from the community and would love to see a lot of the community in the crowd on Monday evening." Boiling Springs will be hosting another 5A school in Lexington on Monday afternoon. Reel hopes to see a great crowd at both the home scrimmage on Monday against Lexington but also on Friday when they travel to Gaffney for a jamboree where they'll play Southside. The Boiling Springs volleyball team will also have a special night this coming week as they host their alumni game on Tuesday (August 9th) from 6:00-7:30 PM. It's the first chance for the Bulldogs to hold their alumni game since prior to Covid and Boiling Springs head coach Allison Elliot is happy they're able to bring back the game this year. "This is our first year in a couple of years that we get to have our alumni game, so we're excited to start it back up," said Elliot. "I came here in 1991 and it's exciting to see some of those kids that played for me to come back and just get to visit. Some of them will jump in and play in the game but a lot of it is just getting to reconnect with our old players. It's funny that some of my old players now have kids playing for us now." At the alumni game the Bulldogs will also be introducing their 2022 volleyball teams, both varsity and junior varsity teams, as well as possibly the first official boys' volleyball team. It will also include a scrimmage between the JV and varsity team as well as opportunities for alumni to participate in the scrimmage. "It's a great time for us to showcase our teams and facilities along with letting these younger players hear the stories of the people that came before them," said Elliot. "We'll probably pull out some old jerseys and some pictures and just have a good time with lots of laughs." Coach Elliot said that the gym will open just a little before 6:00 PM for any former players that want to get some warm-ups in prior to the start of the festivities. Comments are closed.
