On Saturday afternoon the Boiling Springs basketball team defeated Whale Branch 55-38 to capture the 2018 Bobcat Classic in Bluffton, SC. With the victory the Bulldogs improve to 9-2 on the season.
The Bulldogs were led on Saturday by senior point guard JB Kennedy who scored 16 points for Boiling Springs in the championship game. Boiling Springs jumped out to an early 20-10 lead at the end of the first quarter and never allowed Whale Branch to get any closer as they also held a 42-29 lead at the end of the third quarter. On their way to the championship game the Bulldogs defeated Beaufort High School 57-41 on Thursday and Marvin Ridge (NC) 70-66 on Friday. Boiling Springs Zach Baldinelli was named the MVP of the Bobcat Classic while Chance Guest, Reggie Crocker, and Pierre Gentry were all named to the All-Tournament team.
