FORT MILL, SC - With playoff seeding on the line, the Boiling Springs baseball went on a business trip to Fort Mill where they came away with an 18-6 victory over Nation Ford on Monday night.
Boiling Springs got their night started in impressive fashion grabbing three runs in the top of the first inning to take an early 3-0 lead. The Bulldogs held on to an 8-2 lead going into the top of the fifth inning when their bats lit up the scoreboard as Boiling Springs scored ten runs in the top half of the inning. Nation Ford added four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning but it wasn't enough to keep the game going as the Bulldogs won by mercy rule. Boiling Springs got a big night from senior third baseman Davis Starnes who went three of four at the plate with a three-run homer and six RBIs. Bulldogs catcher Hudson Wilson also had a big night going four of four with two doubles and two RBIs against Nation Ford. Every spot in the Boiling Springs lineup either had a RBI or a run scored against the Falcons on Monday night. Boiling Springs also got a strong start from senior pitcher Landon Ellis who went four innings only allowing one earned run on three hits while striking out four batters. The Bulldogs will next return to action on Wednesday night where they'll host the same Nation Ford team for senior night, as the game is slated to start at 6:30 PM. Softball Gaffney 5 Boiling Springs 1 Boiling Springs softball fell to Gaffney 5-1 in their final home game of the season on Monday night. After holding a 2-0 lead, the Indians got a big three-run homer in the top of the sixth inning to take a 5-0 lead over the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs got a run in the bottom of the seventh inning when Chloe Osteen scored from third base on a Bri Stanley single to left field. Boiling Springs will travel to Chesnee on Tuesday before traveling to Clover on Friday night in their final region matchup of the year and with a spot in the playoffs on the line.
