After defeating Gaffney on Wednesday night to help clinch the region championship the Boiling Springs baseball team backed that up with a 10-1 victory over the Indians on Friday night to complete the series sweep.
Boiling Springs continued their strong hitting from Wednesday night into the first inning of Friday night as the Bulldogs claimed an early 5-0 lead before the Indians ever came to the plate. The Bulldogs added two runs in the third and seventh innings while also adding one run in the fifth inning. Davis Starnes led the Bulldogs offense on Friday night going three for four on the night with two RBIs along with scoring two runs. Tristan Smith added two RBIs on a one for three night at the plate while Luke Compton went two for three at the plate with two runs scored of his own. Bulldogs starting pitcher Jackson Cole picked up his first varsity win on Friday night going five innings while allowing only one run on three hits and striking out five Gaffney batters. Landon Ellis and Ashton Smith both pitched an inning each of relief with Ellis striking out two batters and Smith striking out one. Smith also had a good night at the plate hitting a triple along with picking up a RBI while also scoring two runs of his own. Boiling Springs will return to action on Monday in a home game against Spartanburg before they travel to Duncan Park on Tuesday night for another matchup against the Vikings. Comments are closed.
