After picking up a win on Wednesday night against Spartanburg the Boiling Springs volleyball team made it two in a row as they defeated Gaffney 3-2 (25-22, 20-25, 22-25, 25-17, 15-11) on Thursday night to avenge an earlier loss to the Indians earlier this season.
After falling behind 2-1 in the match the Bulldogs were able to win two straight sets to come away with their first region win of the year. "The girls really had to fight for this one tonight as the scores went back and forth all night," said Bulldogs head volleyball coach Allison Elliot. "The whole team contributed tonight and the final set came down to controlling momentum by putting the ball away first." Boiling Springs was led in kills on Thursday night by Savannah Page with twenty-four while also picking up twenty-six assists. Madison Gregory also had twenty-six assists for the Bulldogs while Macy Bagwell led the team with three blocks. Gracie Kilgore and Cloe Wood led the team in digs with twenty-seven while Alex Fyfe was just behind them with twenty-four digs of her own. Boiling Springs will look to use the back-to-back victories as momentum as they go through the second half of their region play. "We expect this to be a confidence booster as we play Nation Ford on Tuesday," said Elliot. "Our goal is to keep getting better each time we play." The Bulldogs will return to play on Tuesday as they travel to Nation Ford in another region matchup before a planned home game on Thursday against Clover. Comments are closed.
