BOILING SPRINGS, SC - With the Boiling Springs community celebrating homecoming festivities this week, the Bulldogs volleyball team got their opportunity to join in the celebrations as they defeated region rival Spartanburg 3-1 on Thursday night. With the victory the Bulldogs improve to 14-12 overall and 2-2 in region play. Boiling Springs won the first two sets 25-22 and 25-20 to take a quick 2-0 lead in the match over the Vikings. In the third set, it was the Vikings who fought back as they claimed a 25-20 victory to cut the Bulldogs lead in the match to 2-1. The Bulldogs rebounded with authority in the fourth set to capture the victory in the set 25-21and the win in the match 3-1 over the Vikings. Boiling Springs got a big match from sophomore Kennedy Cole who led the team in kills with 16 while also registering 12 digs and two ace serves. They also got an impressive match from senior Grace Shepherd as she led the team in assists with 25 along with eight kills. Senior Karson Browning registered 13 kills while fellow senior Gracen Bennett added 12 digs. Bulldogs eighth-grader Carolina Burgess also had a good night with 16 assists along with two ace serves. The Bulldogs will be back in action next week on Monday in a tri-match against Landrum and Spartanburg Christian Academy before getting back to region play on Wednesday when they host Dorman. GIRLS TENNIS The Boiling Springs girl's tennis team picked up their first win of the season when they defeated Greer 4-3 on Monday night.
The Bulldogs got a win in number one singles as Victoria Leonard won her match (6-4, 6-2) before getting wins by Jasmyn Barrett (6-3, 6-3) and Karlee Shaw (6-1, 6-0). The deciding match was a victory in number one doubles as Leonard and Allie Hollifield got the victory in a tiebreaker (6-1, 6-6, 10-8). Boiling Springs will be back in action this weekend when they compete in a tournament at Greer Middle College on Saturday. Comments are closed.
