On Saturday the Boiling Springs Bulldogs boy's tennis team hosted their fifth annual Zaxby's Invitational that was won by the Fort Mill Yellow Jackets by one victory over the defending tournament champions, Boiling Springs. It is the second straight year that the tournament was decided between the two schools.
The tournament had a mixture of competition from the Upstate of South Carolina as the field included Boiling Springs, Fort Mill, Hillcrest and Chapman. Fort Mill captured the championship with twenty-two points while Boiling Springs finished in second place with eighteen points followed by Hillcrest and Chapman. Fort Mill was able to capture the tournament as they had four flight champions in four singles, five singles, one doubles and two doubles. Boiling Springs had three flight champions Joey Vert was victorious in one singles, Blaine Lawter was victorious in two singles and Clayton Elder was victorious in three singles. "We really feel like this tournament helps us get ready for our region," said Bulldogs head coach Scott Galloway. "When you battle in a region like we do with so much talent it's always good to face quality competition like this to prepare for the rest of the year." The Bulldogs will begin their region schedule on Tuesday as they travel to Dorman to face the Cavaliers. Comments are closed.
