On Tuesday night the Boiling Springs Bulldogs soccer program both finished out their non conference schedule with victories against Blue Ridge as the boys team won 4-1 and the girls team won 2-0 to continue their undefeated season.
In the boys game the Bulldogs got the scoring started early when David Leon found the back of the net four minutes into the match giving Boiling Springs an early 1-0 lead. It didn't take the Bulldogs long to score again as thirteen minutes later Cesar Rivera pushed the lead to 2-0 at the seventeen minute mark. With the game in stoppage time at the end of the first half, the Bulldogs were able to find the back of the net one more time as Leon scored his second goal of the half giving Boiling Springs a 3-0 halftime lead. "Last year David Leon and a few of our other strikers were some of the top scorers in the region," said Bulldogs head soccer coach Nathan Robbins about Leon's performance Tuesday night, "With those guys being seniors I expected them to lead the team and put scores on the board just like they did last year." The Bulldogs added another score late in the second half when Cristian Harris found the back of the net giving Boiling Springs a 4-0 lead. With the victory the Bulldogs boys team finish their non region schedule at 2-2 and will enter region play on Thursday as they travel to Dorman. In the girl's game the Lady Bulldogs continued their undefeated season as they beat Blue Ridge 2-0 but it took a strong second half for them to capture the victory. The Lady Bulldogs battled the visiting Lady Tigers to a 0-0 halftime score as both teams couldn't get a shot to find the net. In the second half though the Lady Bulldogs got the offense going when junior Brooke Cash broke away behind the Blue Ridge defense to give Boiling Springs a 1-0 lead when she found the back of the net. Boiling Springs added to their lead when freshman McKenna Wilson scored in the seventieth minute to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead and to seal the victory. The Lady Bulldogs will return to action on Thursday when they host Dorman in their first region III-5A match of the season. Comments are closed.
