CHESNEE, SC - The matchup between the two high schools in Spartanburg County's District Two has taken a few weeks to get played, after being rained out on two separate occasions, but when the game was finally played on Monday night it was the Boiling Springs softball that came away with a 9-0 victory over the Eagles.
Sydnee Spencer started the game with a walk for the Bulldogs before moving up to third base on a double to centerfield by Myah Salters. Spencer scored the first run of the game when she raced home on a groundout by Ashlyn Posey to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Myah Salters added to the Bulldogs lead in the top of the third inning when she hit a homerun to centerfield to put Boiling Springs ahead 2-0 over the Eagles. Abbie Wilson reached base on an error before moving to third base on a double to left field by Sayde Parris to put runners at second and third with no outs. Addison Wheeler followed two batters with a double of her own scoring Wilson to make the lead 3-0 over the Eagles. Hailie Dismuskes, who came on as a courtesy runner for Parris, scored on a passed ball two batters later to push the Boiling Springs lead to 4-0 after three innings of play. Sydnee Spencer picked up an RBI in the top of the fourth inning when she singled to right field scoring Chloe Osteen, who had worked a walk to start the inning and stole second base, to make the score 5-0 in favor of the Bulldogs. Spencer made the lead 6-0 when she came around to score on the next at-bat when Salters reached on an error. In the top of the sixth inning, the Bulldogs scored three runs with two outs in the inning. Abbie Wilson started the offense in the sixth inning when she worked a walk before advancing to second base on a single to left by Sayde Parris and going to third when Ashlyn Posey walked to load the bases. With the bases loaded, Addison Wheeler singled to centerfield scoring both Wilson and Parris to push the lead to 8-0 over the Eagles. Shaniya Middleton added another run when she doubled to right field scoring Posey to make the score 9-0 in favor of the Bulldogs. Sayde Parris, Myah Salters, Addison Wheeler, and Shaniya Middleton all had two hits for the Bulldogs while Wheeler led the team with three RBIs. Sydnee Spencer and Abbie Wilson led the Bulldogs in runs scored with two runs scored each. Allie Simpson had a strong outing for the Bulldogs from the pitching circle as she went all six innings allowing only three hits while striking out three batters. Skylar Barrett, Ansley Blanton, and Loren Potter recorded the three hits for Chesnee against the Bulldogs on Monday night. Boiling Springs will be back in action on Tuesday night as they go back into region play to face the Gaffney Indians and it will also be senior night for the Bulldogs. Chesnee will travel to Liberty for another region matchup of their own on Tuesday night, the next to last scheduled region game for the team. Comments are closed.
