UNION, SC - After dropping their first two games of the season, the Boiling Springs boys' basketball team has rebounded to win two straight after going on the road to defeat Union County 64-50 on Tuesday night.
After trailing most of the first half, 16-13 at the end of the first quarter and 28-20 at halftime, the Boiling Springs basketball team used a big run in the third quarter to fuel their second half comeback. Boiling Springs went into the second half trailing by eight points and went on a 24-14 run to take a 44-42 lead at the end of the third quarter. During the run the Bulldogs hit four three-pointers in the quarter from Tre Locklear (2), Dominique Johnson, and WJ Fowler. Locklear and Johnson combined for 14 of the Bulldogs 24 points in the quarter. The Bulldogs kept the pressure on in the fourth quarter as they outscored the Yellow Jackets 20-8 including Locklear going four of four from the free throw line. Locklear and Johnson once again lead the Bulldogs charge as they scored 18 of the Bulldogs 20 points in the quarter to seal the 64-50 victory. Dominique Johnson and Tre Locklear led all scorers in the game as both scored 24 points each on Tuesday night. Keishawn Gibson led Union County with 15 points while Jarayln Gregory joined him in double figures with 13 points. Boiling Springs will look to make it three games in a row as they return home on Wednesday night to face Clover, a team the Bulldogs fell to by one earlier this season. Comments are closed.
