FORT MILL, SC - With the 5A playoffs on the horizon for the Boiling Springs baseball team, they ended the regular season the best way they could on a five-game winning streak including a sweep of Nation Ford that was concluded with a 15-8 victory over the Falcons on the road Friday night.
Boiling Springs jumped out an early 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning and extended their lead to 5-1 in the top of the third inning. Nation Ford had a big inning in the bottom of the fourth inning as they scored four runs to tie the game at 5-5 with the Bulldogs. The Bulldogs responded in the top of the fourth inning as they scored eight runs to retake the lead at 13-5 over the Falcons before adding two more runs in the top of the seventh inning to take the 15-8 victory and close out their season with five straight wins. Bulldogs' senior third baseman Davis Starnes continued his strong series against the Falcons going two of three with a home run, three RBIs, and a walk. The Bulldogs Corben Childers and Hudson Wilson each had a double each along with three RBIs each. Luke Compton done a great job in the leadoff spot for the Bulldogs as he went one for two with a double while also working three walks. Jackson Reel also had a good night for Boiling Springs going two for three with a double, two RBIs, and a walk on Friday night. Jackson Cole started the game for the Bulldogs pitching two and a third innings giving up four runs while striking out four batters. The Bulldogs also got a strong relief performance from pitcher Ashton Smith who pitched two innings of shutout baseball while striking out three Nation Ford batters. Boiling Springs will now turn their focus to the 5A playoffs that start on Tuesday when they host Northwestern at 6:30 PM. Softball Clover 11 Boiling Springs 1 The Boiling Springs softball team's season came to an end on Friday night with an 11-1 loss to Clover on Friday night. With the season coming to an end the Bulldogs will be saying goodbye to four seniors that have been key parts of the Boiling Springs softball program as the high school careers of third baseman Kate Philbeck, shortstop AD Raines, second baseman Jacie Ross, and outfielder Grace Geddes come to an end. The Bulldogs will miss out on the 5A playoffs after finishing fifth in Region III-5A this season. Comments are closed.
