NEWBERRY, SC - In their final tournament before postseason play starts, the Chesnee girls' golf team traveled to the annual Smith Memorial Tournament at the Country Club of Newberry where the Eagles led by Olivia Roberts had a pretty good day.
The Eagles were led by golfer Olivia Roberts who shot a score of 74 to finished tied for second place with Abby Franks from Dorman. They both finished one shot behind individual champion Caroline Hawkins from Blythewood who won the tournament with a score of 73 and were five shots ahead of the fourth-place finishers. As a team Chesnee finished with a strong score of 339, which was good enough for a third-place overall finishing only behind tournament champion Dorman (321) and Chapin (331) as the Eagles were the highest finishing 2A team in the tournament. Chesnee will play their last regular season match on Wednesday when they travel to Woodfin Ridge to take on Boiling Springs and Mauldin. CHESNEE VOLLEYBALL The Chesnee volleyball team traveled to Greer on Tuesday and had their three-game winning streak snapped as they fell to Greer Middle College 3-1. In the first set the Eagles were able to capture a 25-20 win in the first set before falling in the next three sets 14-25, 18-25, and 16-25. Hayden Roberts and Pearl Holloway led the team in seven kills each while Roberts added ten digs of her own. Holloway added 14 assists and 12 digs to her total on Tuesday. Haley Edmonds led the team in digs with 17 while Emma Showen added 12 digs and three ace serves. Jayla Dunn led the Eagles in blocks with 2.5 blocks of her own. Chesnee fell to 5-3 in region play on Tuesday but will look to rebound on Thursday as they return home for another region matchup against Liberty. Comments are closed.
