The Union County Yellow Jackets used a twenty-eight point first quarter to help lead their way to a 56-13 win over the Chesnee Eagles in the first round of the AAA playoffs. This was the Eagles first ever AAA playoffs game.
Union County got the scoring started early with a 21 yard TT Kershaw touchdown run soon followed by a Kesean Glover 63 yard run. On the next two Chesnee possessions Cedric Neal would return two interceptions back for Union County touchdowns. TT Kershaw would score his second touchdown of the night on a 77 yard run as the Union County offensive line did an excellent job all night of opening up holes for Kershaw and the Yellow Jacket rushing attack. The Yellow Jackets finished with 373 yards rushing and six touchdowns on the ground. Kershaw finished with a game high 122 rushing yards on five carries and two touchdowns. Chesnee would finally get on the scoreboard midway through the second quarter as Jacob Kimbrell hit Rodney Alexander on a screen pass for a 12 yard touchdown. Ke'Avis Savage, Jordan Kershaw, and Jamal Wallington would each add another rushing touchdown for the Yellow Jackets. Jacob Kimbrell would cap the scoring for the night with a 14 yard run in the fourth quarter. Chesnee Head Coach Bill Owens was proud of the fight his team showed this season especially his seniors. "I love this group of kids they never quit playing hard,” said Coach Owens. “Union County is a better football team than we are but our kids did what they have done all season long and they never quit playing hard." Union County will host Indian Land next Friday. |
