The Chesnee Lady Eagles fell to the Landrum Lady Cardinals 10-0 in region play on Thursday evening. With this result, if the Lady Eagles win tomorrow night at 5:30 they will likely finish at worst tied for 2nd in region with Blacksburg or will win 2nd outright.
Landrum got the scoring started in the 1st with RBIs from Sarah Price and Caitlyn Cox. Landrum broke the game open with a 5 run 5th inning that included a two run home run from Caitlyn Cox and a inside the park two run home run from Michelle Suddeth. One bright for the Eagles was the play defensively of Shenandoah Bishop and Sierra Bowen. Bishop had several nice catches in centerfield and Bowen made several nice cut off throws to throw out Landrum runners. Tomorrow the Lady Eagles play their final region game of the season against St Josephs at 5:30. If the Lady Eagles win it will mean Chesnee will likely either finish 2nd or finished tie for 2nd. This would be a huge accomplishment for a young Lady Eagles squad, "I've said from the beginning us having such a young team and being able to have a home playoff is huge for us. We are excited to play for a home game. Our girls are ready for that, and coming off tonight they are hungry for more" Chesnee Head Coach Ashley Height said. Tomorrow night is Senior Night for the Lady Eagles. Madison McSwain is the only Senior on a young Lady Eagles squad filled with mostly Freshmen. Coach Height is proud of what McSwain has done for the Chesnee Softball program, " Madi is one of the funniest kids, one of the most energetic kids I've ever coached. She has evolved so much into some we can count on as far as getting on base, but also in the dugout. She keeps people going and keeps people in the game." The Lady Eagles will be back in action tomorrow at 5:30pm in the region finale against St. Josephs at home. Comments are closed.
