The Lady Eagles used a 8 run 1st inning to down the St Josephs Lady Knights 12-1 on the road to improve to 2-1 in region play. Paige Scruggs had a solid performance on the mound as she scattered 6 hits and struck out 4, while only allowing one run over 6 innings of work.

The Lady Eagles also got RBIs from Becca Watson, Shelby Harris, Olivia Gardner, Avery Wilson, Madi McSwain, and Sierra Bowen in the 1st inning. Chesnee Head Coach Ashley Height was pleased with her team's performance and hope they can carry it over into the second round of region play, "to get a win on a run rule definitely is a momentum boost for us, and its a good way to head into the second round of region play." The Lady Eagles tacked on another run in the 2nd on a Shelby Harris RBI triple. Sam Carver added an RBI single in the 5th. The Lady Eagles capped their scoring with an Olivia Gardner 2 RBI single in the sixth. The Lady Eagles are in a strong position to push for a home playoff game or possibly a Region Championship. When asked what it would mean for her team to get a home playoff game or region title Coach Height said "it would be a testament to how hard our girls work. We are young, but these girls are tough as nails and they fight to the end. Being able to play at home with mostly 8th and 9th graders and only one senior is a big deal for us." The Lady Eagles will be back in action April 5thagainst Blacksburg. Comments are closed.
