ANDERSON, SC - Chesnee left the Anderson Sports and Entertainment Center celebrating after a banner day on Saturday.
The Eagles left with two individual state champions along with six All-State wrestlers. Senior Garrett Williams won the 182lbs class and will represent Chesnee in the North/South All-Star Tournament next week. Thaddeus Gerstenacker became the first freshman to win a state championship for the Eagles as he won the 138lbs class. Nick Hofer lost a hard fought 6-3 battle in the 195lbs class championship to earn 2nd place. Aedan Mendoza in the 145lbs class and Wyatt Hawk in the 126lbs class also earned 2nd place finishes. Tyler Henderson rounded out the All-State bunch as he brought home a hard earned third place finish in the consolation bracket of the 113lbs class. Quinton Gerstenacker in the 132lbs class and Gunther Gerstenacker in the 160lbs class each brought home fifth place finishes while Aiden Allen rounded out the state finalists with a seventh-place finish in the heavyweight division. While Chesnee will be losing some quality seniors to graduation this year, they have a strong group returning next year including state champion Thaddeus Gerstenacker which should set the Eagles up for another strong season next year.
