TAYLORS, SC - After falling to Landrum on Tuesday night, the Chesnee volleyball team bounced back with an impressive region victory over Greer Middle College defeating the Blazers 3-0 on Thursday night.
In the first set Chesnee the two teams battled to a 24-24 tie before the Eagles scored the last two points of the set to take a 26-24 win to go up 1-0 in the match. Chesnee fell down 10-0 in the second set before impressive service runs from Pearl Holloway and Payden Pitman helped the Eagles win the second set 28-26 for a 2-0 advantage in the match. Harley Grady helped lead the Eagles to the victory in the third set as she had a service run early in the set and then scored the last four points of the set to give Chesnee a 26-24 win and a 3-0 victory in the match. Chesnee head coach Katie Jolley was proud of the resiliency shown by her team in a competitive match against the Blazers. "I was so proud of how our players never gave up and kept fighting," said Jolley. "This was a huge win for us getting a road win against them." Pearl Holloway ended the match with a double-double with 11 kills and 20 assists to go along with nine digs and three ace serves. Hayden Roberts and Maggie Blanton each had a strong night as Roberts had 12 digs, eight kills, and three ace serves while Blanton registered five kills on eight swings to go along with a block. Jayla Dunn added five kills of her own on 11 swings. Harley Grady had a good night along the backline with 10 digs and an ace serve while Payden Pittman led the team in ace serves with four aces. Chesnee will look to make it two in a row when they host Liberty on Tuesday in another region matchup. Comments are closed.
