The Chesnee Lady Eagles fell 10-0 to the Crescent Lady Tigers in the 3A District I Championship on Wednesday night.
“It was a phenomenal season, and I'm extremely proud of them. I wouldn't trade a one of them for anybody else in the world. We have a great group of young ladies, and they will be phenomenal people ten years from now." Chesnee Head Coach Tripp Fogle said when asked what he told his team after the game In the bottom of the first, the first three Crescent batters reached with Jenna Davis driving in a run with a RBI single. Emma Johnson would later follow with a two RBI single, and Lately Burgess would drive in another run. Crescent would add two more runs on an error and a double steal. Kyleigh Thompson would draw a one out walk in the top of the second, but that would be all for the Lady Eagles. Crescent would add a run on both the second and third innings as Savannah Chambers hit a RBI double in the second, and Jolie Kelley added a RBI single in the third. In the top of the third, Chesnee got a two out single from Maddie Martin. Chesnee got a one out double from Becca Watson, and a two out single from Ali Scruggs in the top of the fourth, but were unable to plate a run in either inning. Whitney Haulbrooks tried to get a Chesnee rally started in the top of the fifth with a one out single, but the Eagles were unable to push the run across. Crescent would add two more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Jenna Davis would drive in a run on a ground out, and Savannah Davis would drive in the final run with a RBI single. The Lady Eagles will lose Sierra Bowen and Whitney Haulbrooks to graduation. "I told Whitney after she came in and got that hit that she was my hero. I'm so proud of her and Sierra (Bowen), and the leadership they showed. They set the tone in games and in practice by doing things the right way" Coach Fogle said. Comments are closed.
