CHESNEE, SC - The Chesnee Eagles needed extra innings to down the East Rutherford Cavaliers 3-2 with a walk off victory in a border battle between two schools less than thirty minutes apart.
The game was scoreless through the first five innings as Chesnee's Maddie Handy as well as East's Aaliyah Fowler and Casse McFarland combined to keep the game scoreless. East got a pair of runs in the top of the sixth innings but the Eagles responded with a run in each of the final three innings. Skylar Barrett drove in a run in the sixth inning as Aubrey Aparis tied the game in the seventh innings to force extras. Emily Pruett hit the game winner in the bottom of the eighth inning as she hit a line drive down the left field line to bring home the winning run for the Eagles. Pruett and Aparis each had two hits for the Eagles. Handy spun a terrific game from the pitching circle for the Eagles as she scattered six hits, and only surrendered one earned run while striking out 10 batters in the complete game win. Chesnee will be back in action on Wednesday night as they travel to Lewisville to take on the Lions with a 7:00 PM scheduled first pitch. Comments are closed.
