CHESNEE, SC - The Landrum Cardinals downed the Chesnee Eagles 68-55 in a matchup of region and county rivals on Friday night.
The Eagles got off to a hot start as Noah Mvula sank three three-pointers in the first quarter to spark the Eagles to a 18-11 lead after the first quarter. A Carson Williamson three-pointer stretched the Eagles lead to twelve points but the Cardinals responded with an 18-2 run that saw Franklin Davis and Benett Edwards account for all 18 points in the quarter. The run allowed the Cardinals to take a 33-29 lead into the locker room. Davis and Edwards accounted for all the Cardinals first half points as Davis scored 17 points and Edwards added 16 points of his own. Cardinals stretched the lead to eight after three quarters thanks to eight points from Marco Gonzalez. The Cardinals were able to maintain their lead thanks to seven fourth quarter points from Colby Walker. Franklin Davis led the Cardinals with 29 points on Friday night while Benett Edwards added 18 points himself. Noah Mvula led the Eagles with 14 points. The Eagles will return to action on Tuesday night on the road at Greer Middle College as the girls game is scheduled for a 6:00pm tipoff with the boys to follow. GIRLS GAME The Landrum Lady Cardinals downed the Chesnee Lady Eagles 57-16. The Cardinals used a 24-1 first quarter sparked by eleven points from Savannah Brown. The early lead proved too much for the Eagles to overcome. The Cardinals were led by Kaylee Cortez who finished with fifteen points. Savannah Brown added thirteen points and Kylie Fortner added eleven. Pearl Holloway led the Eagles with four points. Bixley Koon, Aubrey Aparis, Perrin Wood, and Haley Edmonds each finished with three points. Comments are closed.
