GREENWOOD, SC - The Chesnee golf team played their second tournament in two days on Tuesday and came away with a top four finish at the Lady Eagle Invitational at the Links of Stoney Point in Greenwood.
Chesnee finished in fourth place with a team score of 336, which was just six shots behind Chapin who won the tournament with a score of 330. Chesnee head coach Kyle Scruggs said that while he's not upset with a top five result, he knows that his team left shots on the course. "I'm not upset with the finish at all as we got some good outings from Abigail Watson and Addy Parker especially," said Scruggs. "We're struggling as a team with some chipping and putting along with our course management. Today we left some shots on the course because of that but those are areas we can clean up as a team." Outside of Chapin finishing in first place, the only other teams to finish ahead of the Eagles were Pickens (332) in second place and TL Hanna (333) in third place. Addy Parker led the Chesnee team with a score of 79 for a tie of eighth place in the individual standings. Olivia Pellerin from Mauldin won the individual tournament with a score of 72 while Lillian Alexander from Byrnes finished in a tie for second with a score of 74. Fellow district two golfer Madison Dixon from Boiling Springs finished in a tie for sixth place with a score of 77. The Eagles will be back in action on Thursday when they host Landrum in match play at Meadowbrook.
