The Woodruff Wolverines gave the Chesnee Eagles their first loss of the season as they took the Battle of 221 with a 49-28 win.
"That's the type of teams we will see in the playoffs," said Chesnee head coach Clay Lewis. "I thought it was a good test for us. They are a very good program." The game got off to a bad start for the Eagles as they fumbled on the opening kickoff. Two plays later Carson Tucker hit Shamare Dendy on a screen pass he took twenty-four yards to the end zone for a early 7-0 lead for the Wolverines. After several back and forth possessions, Chesnee would finally put points on the board in the opening minute of the second quarter with a Nyquille O'Fair one yard touchdown run. The drive was sparked by a O'Fair screen pass to Camden Burns that gained twenty-six yards. On the ensuing Wolverine possession penalties plagued both teams, but the biggest penalty gave Woodruff a first down on a fourth down roughing the punter call. Woodruff would score on the next play as Carson Tucker would find Zy Scott for a sixty-five yard scoring strike to put the Wolverines back in front 14-7. Chesnee would respond on the ensuing possession as a pair of big runs by Praise Edrington set up a forty-nine yard touchdown pass from Nyquille O'Fair to Cole Hoskyns to tie it back up at fourteen. The Wolverines would quickly respond as Tucker would once again find Scott to give the Wolverines a seven point cushion, this time from twenty-five yards out. Michael Paslawski would spark the Eagle response on the ensuing possession as returned the kickoff seventy-nine yards to the Woodruff eleven yard line. Camden Burns would punch it in on the first play from scrimmage to tie it back up at twenty-one. The touchdown was Burns' tenth on the ground this season. The Wolverines would use a nine play drive to open the second half and would regain the lead when Carson Tucker would find Mathias Dial for a thirty-seven yard scoring strike. The Eagles would respond with a ten yard scoring run from Nyquille O'Fair. O'Fair would use his arm to setup the play with a eighteen yard backdoor screen to Cole Hoskyns. After a wacky onside kick attempt where both teams had possession resulted in the Wolverines having the ball at the Chesnee thirty-five yard line, the Wolverines would need just one play to score as Shamare Dendy would take it to the house to put the Wolverines back in front for good. After Chesnee would fumble the ball once again on the kickoff and give the ball back to Woodruff at midfield the Wolverines would need ten plays to double their lead to 42- 28. Jonathan Sexton would find paydirt as Carson Tucker would find him from eight yards out with a pass. Woodruff would score on their final possession of the game as Damarian Elmore would run it in from twenty-six yards out. Nyquille O'Fair finished with a hundred and forty-three total yards and three scores with a hundred and twelve of that through the air. Cole Hoskyns lead the Chesnee receivers with four catches for seventy-three yards and a score. Camden Burns leaf the Chesnee rushers with thirteen carries for seventy-six yards and a score. Corey Seay and Dylan Bennett lead the Eagles with seven and a half tackles each. Shamare Dendy lead the Wolverines rushers with hundred and forty five yards and a score on twenty-seven carries.
