CHESNEE, SC - The Woodruff Wolverines downed the Chesnee Eagles 49-24 in the Eagles final game before they start region play in two weeks.
Chesnee opened the game on a twelve-play drive that ended with an Ezequiel Lazarin forty-seven yard field goal to put the Eagles up three near the midpoint of the first quarter. Woodruff struck quickly as Carson Tucker found Kory Scott for a seventy-eight scoring strike on the third play of the ensuing drive to give Woodruff the lead at 7-3. The Eagles responded with another long drive, this one ended with a Damarius McDowell four yard run to make it 10-7 in favor of the Eagles. Woodruff then responded with twenty-eight unanswered points as fourteen of those points came in the second quarter when Carson Tucker found Anthony Graybill from thirty-four yards out to put the Wolverines back in front, and Eastin Burch scored from three yards out to give Woodruff a 28-10 halftime lead. Burch started the second half for the Wolverines with a one-yard scoring run as Tucker found Graybill to complete the run, this time from forty-five yards out. Chesnee got back on the board with the first play of the fourth quarter as KJ Proctor punched it in from a yard out to make it 35-16. Woodruff iced the game with back-to-back touchdowns as Cameron Nabors scored on a sixteen-yard run and Bryant Whiteside followed with a fifty-six yard run to cap the scoring for the Wolverines. Chesnee got a final minute three-yard scoring run from Damarius McDowell for his second score of the night. Carson Tucker was the star of the night for Woodruff as the senior finished with twenty-one completions for 300 yards and three scores. Eastin Burch finished with 88 yards rushing and two scores while Anthony Graybill had seven catches for 105 yards and a pair of scores. Kory Scott had two catches for 99 yards and a score while DJ Nash caught nine balls for 81 yards. Noah Lawter and Damarius McDowell led the Eagles as Lawter finished with 101 yards and McDowell had 81 yards and two scores. Dylan Jolley led the Eagles defensively with nine tackles as Kaylob Blanton had a big night in the kickoff return game for the Eagles as he had 115 return yards. The Eagles will be back in action in two weeks as they travel to Landrum to open up region play with a 7:30 PM scheduled kick. Comments are closed.
