Chesnee fell 59-7 to the Southside Tigers to open region play. Southside used a strong rushing attack to pull away from the Eagles as the Tigers had 402 yards rushing on 39 carries and scored seven rushing touchdowns.
Chesnee Head Coach Bill Owens was proud of his teams effort in the loss. “At the end of the day we didn't get it done, but our kids played so hard tonight." Cole Hoskyns had a nice night for the Eagles as he had 2 catches for 77 yards and the Eagles lone touchdown. That touchdown came on a 67 yard pass from Jacob Kimbrell on a seam route and was aided by a nice blocks by Jacob Aparis. Rodney Alexander had a nice night for the Eagles defensively as he finished with 9 solo tackles, an assisted tackle, and an interception. Tyler Ezell had a nice sack for the Eagles to start the game. The Tigers were lead by Georgia Tech commit Jalon Calhoun who finished with 54 yards rushing and two touchdowns on the ground and 5-11 passing for 69 yards and another score. Braydon Bennett and Trayy Oglesby both topped the century marl for the Tigers. Bennett fished with 129 yards rushing and two touchdowns on thirteen carries, and Oglesby had 111 yards and a touchdown on fifteen carries.
