The Broome Centurions downed the Chesnee Eagles 62-46 in a key region II-3A matchup. Broome got out to a 21-13 lead after one quarter behind the play of Centurions’ 6'8' center Adam Comer as he scored seven points and Rylan Brown who downed three three-pointers. Broome put the halftime lead at 39-20 thanks to an 11-2 run to close the half which was started by Markus Lindsay with a three-pointer and added another basket with :49 left in the half. Chesnee tried to fight back in the third quarter as they outscored the Centurions 12-7 as five different Eagles registered a point for the Eagles in the third quarter. The leader of those in the quarter was KJ Valentine who scored four points in the third quarter. Broome was able to maintain their lead by outscoring the Eagles 16-14 in the final quarter. Chesnee got a pair of solid performances off the bench from Praise Edrington and Cole Hoskyns as they each scored eight points while Nyquille O'Fair also scored eight points. The Centurions ended with three players in double figures as Adam Comer and Logan King led the way with thirteen points each while Markus Lindsay also added eleven points. The Eagles will be back in action on Friday as they host the Chapman Panthers. The girls game is set for a 6:00pm tip with the boys to follow. Broome jumped out to a 13-4 lead after the first quarter of play behind five points from Peyton Sullivan. In the second quarter Chesnee outscored the Centurions 14-10 but Broome was able to take a 23-18 lead into the halftime break. Jamekia Evans sparked the Eagles with five points in the second quarter. The game continued it's back and forth play throughout the third quarter as it saw three lead changes with the quarter ending in a tie. Broome outscored the Eagles 11-2 over the final 3:39 of the game to pull out the win. Chesnee's Abbey Ray lead all scorers with seventeen points.
