The Broome Centurions used a 28 point first quarter to down the Chesnee Eagles 45-7 in Region II-3A play.
Broome recovered an Eagles fumble on Chesnee's first play from scrimmage and Broome's C.J. Littlejohn would rumble in from ten yards out on the next play to give Broome a 7-0 lead. Broome used back to back long touchdown passes from Brenden Taylor to Ja'Qun Wilkins to give the Centurions a 21-0 lead. Broome would round out the first quarter scoring with a ninety-two yard run from Keyvon Graham. The Chesnee defense made some adjustments in the second quarter and were able to slow the Centurions offense down. Broome's Bryant Davis managed to find the end zone from five yards out with just under three minutes to go in the first half. Chesnee found some success on the ground in the second quarter by putting Dez Tate at quarterback and using a run heavy package. Chesnee made it deep into Broome territory, but a Chesnee turnover ended the drive. Broome opened the second half scoring with a forty-seven yard Keyvon Graham punt return. Chesnee managed to get on the board at the end of the third quarter with a sixty-five yard touchdown pass from Jacob Kimbrell to Dez Tate. Tate was able to break several Centurion tackles, and outraced the defense for the score. Tate had a big game for the Eagles as he finished with six catches for 107 yards and a touchdown and he also carried the ball eight times for forty-eight yards. Jacob Kimbrell came into the game second in the area for passing yards and finished 11-20 for 140 yards and a touchdown. Alijah Means had a nice night in his first varsity game as the young Eagle finished with two catches for nineteen yards. Broome got a big night from Ja'Qun Wilkins as he finished with two catches for 151 yards and two touchdowns. Keyvon Graham had 99 yards rushing on four carries for the Centurions and a touchdown, and he also scored on a 47 yard punt return. Chesnee will travel to Carolina next week as the Eagles hope to keep their playoff hopes alive. Carolina fell 69-24 at Chapman on Thursday night. Comments are closed.
