Missy Chesney has received a blessing most parents can only dream about, she has two children that have signed athletic scholarships in the same graduating class. Chesney is proud of her children, " I am very excited to have both Christian and Madison sign." Missy Chesney said "I am very proud both have been giving the opportunity to go on to the next level on scholarships doing what they love, Christian with cheer and Madison with running."
Her son Christian signed with Limestone Cheerleading back in December, and today her daughter Madison has signed to run Cross Country and Track at Spartanburg Methodist College. Madison is thankful for her time in the Chesnee Cross Country and Track programs. She was very appreciative of Cross Country Head Coach Eric Leudeman and his efforts in preparing her for the next level "from day one, Coach Leudeman has pushed me and helped me to prepare for the college level by adjusting my workouts and helping me get my speed right" Chesney said. Chesney had received multiple offers to run at the collegiate level before deciding on SMC. When asked what made SMC standout Chesney said "I chose SMC because it was important to me that I have a coach that fits me, and a school that I feel comfortable at." Chesney said SMC's Head Coach Ken Roach's style also played a role in her choosing SMC "I also choose SMC because Coach Roach coaches a lot like Coach Leudeman, and when I toured SMC with Coach Roach I felt that is the school for me and it felt like home." Madison is looking forward to the opportunity to compete and improve at SMC "My goals at SMC is to be a better college runner and win a national championship, and be the best I can be." Chesney had a solid senior campaign with the Cross Country team that included winning the R-S/Armentrout Invitational in Rutherfordton, NC. Chesney plans to major in graphic design at SMC.
