Nate Lamb allowed one hit over 6 innings of work while striking out 14 and the Chesnee offense scored 3 runs in the 3rd as the Eagles won 4-1 over Central Pageland to advance to the District Championship on Monday.
Nate Lamb got rolling early as he retired the first twelve Central Pageland batters in order and struck out the side in three different innings. Lamb ran into some trouble in the 6th when he allowed his only run and Central got it's only base hit, but Lamb and the Chesnee defense did great job limiting Central to just one run and keep the Eagles out in front. Chesnee Head Coach Scott Wease was pleased with his Senior Ace's performance, "He was the dominant guy we knew he could be. He got himself into a bind in the 6th, and did a good job getting out of it. I'm proud of the way he threw". The Chesnee defense was solid behind Lamb. Luke Cash made a great play at shortstop in the top of the 1st to rob a sure base hit, and Cash also made another great play in the 6th to prevent a ground ball from leaving the infield and possibly scoring multiple runs. Bo Walker came on in the 7th to record his 2nd save of the week. Walker pitched 3 innings this week and only allowed one hit while striking out 3 in relief. Chesnee Head Coach Scott Wease was pleased with how Walker performed in relief, "Bo is another senior we feel like can throw strikes when we need him to come into situations like that. He did a great job for us tonight." Offensively for the Eagles, Colin Turner had a big night at the plate as he went 2-3 with a double and 3 RBIs. The Chesnee offense got rolling in the 3rd as the Eagles loaded the bases and Colin Turner hit a pop up in no man's land in right field that Central Pageland was unable to catch. Dawson Williamson and Joey Foos, courtesy runner for Lamb, scored on the play. Blake Scruggs followed Turner with a RBI double of his own. In the 6th, Colin Turner hit a double to drive in Nate Lamb after Lamb's double earlier in the inning to increase the Chesnee lead to 4-0 at that point. Tomorrow at noon, Central Pageland will travel to Gray Collegiate and the winner will play Chesnee on Monday at 5pm in the District Championship. The Eagles only have to win once to advance to the Upper State Tournament, and must lose twice to be eliminated Comments are closed.
