Chesnee swept Union County three sets to none to advance in the 3A volleyball playoffs. Chesnee jumped out to 8-2 lead early in the first set and used the early lead to propel their way to a 25-11 win in game one.
Union County jumped out to an early 3-1 lead in the second set but the Lady Eagles were able to come back and tie the game at eight. Chesnee then used a 14-4 run to close out game two 25-19. In game three Chesnee jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the and went on to win the set 25-17 and claim the match 3-0. Abbey Ray had a big game for the Lady Eagles with twelve kills and nine digs. Abby Fisher continued her consistent play with thirty-three assists and eight digs while AC Yelton had fourteen kills and Shelby Harris had fourteen digs. Chesnee head coach Katie Jolley was pleased with her team's ability to maintain control throughout the game. "It was great. That is what I was looking for from the leadership on the court. They know what their goal is, and they are hard to attain in the playoffs." Jolley said. Chesnee had several young players come up for tonight's game including Brie Smith, Jessa Beech, Hannah Henderson, and Holly Hines. Coach Jolley was pleased to get the young players some playoff experience. “My goal tonight was to get them in at some point,” said Coach Jolley. “I want them to experience this because most of the players on the team this year don't have playoff experience. It will hopefully make it easier for them next year." Chesnee will play the winner of Fairfield Central at Powdersville on Monday in the second round Comments are closed.
