The Chesnee volleyball team played their first regular season game since winning the 2020 state championship game and kept the winning trend going by defeating Broome 3-0 on Thursday night.
After winning seventeen straight games last season the Eagles pushed their winning streak to eighteen games but after winning all those games 3-0 last season, they also pushed their consecutive sets victory to fifty-two straight victories when they won their first set 25-12 over the Centurions. Chesnee extended that streak to fifty-four straight set victories by following up the first set victory with a 25-17 victory in the second set and a 25-18 victory in the third set. Kyleigh Thompson led the team in kills with thirteen on Thursday night as Brie Smith added eight more kills with fifteen digs. Pearl Holloway led the Eagles in assists with twenty-nine assists while adding thirteen digs and two aces. Haley Edmonds led them in digs with twenty digs and two aces while Natalie Morris also had a good night with three kills, a block, and two aces. Chesnee will return to action on Saturday when they host the 2021 Chesnee Volleyball Tournament which is scheduled to start at 8:30 AM. The tournament will include such teams as Kings Mountain, Broome, Gaffney, Spartanburg, Blue Ridge, Fort Mill, High Point, RS Central, Woodruff, Daniel, and Crest. Comments are closed.
