The Lady Eagles got off to a fast start, and continued their strong play on the way to a 3-0 sweep of the Southside Lady Tigers to open region play for Chesnee Volleyball. The Lady Eagles got off to a fast start jumping out to a 16-0 lead behind the serving of Abby Fisher and won the game 25-6 Chesnee Head Coach Katie Jolley was pleased with her team's fast start behind Fisher's serving, "it's huge because that throws a team off balance, to have someone who serves aggressive like that really gets the game going and helps my team get going" Coach Jolley said.
Chesnee had another strong game in game two on their way to a 25-10 win. The Lady Eagles won game two with some excellent front line play. Abbey Ray ended game two on a beautiful spike for the Lady Eagles. Abbey Ray, AC Yelton, Shenandoah Bishop, and Katelyn Barrett did an outstanding job on the front line for the Lady Eagles. The Lady Tigers came out fighting back in game three, but a huge rally lead by Danielle Fisher helped the Lady Eagles turn a 8-7 deficit into a 21-8 lead. The Lady Eagles won game three 25-10 and won the match 3-0. The Lady Eagles did a nice job of maintaining their focus against an over matched Lady Tigers squad. Coach Jolley was pleased with how her squad maintained their focus, "it was what we focused on, and what we have focused on for the last couple of matches. We can only focus on our side, and not necessarily what the other side is doing". AC Yelton and Abbey Ray lead the way for the Lady Eagles. Yelton finished with 15 kills, and Ray finished with 9 kills. Abby Fisher did a nice job setting up Ray and Yelton as she finished with 25 assists. Fisher along with Danielle Cooley each had nice service nights for the Lady Eagles, Cooley finished with 5 aces and Fisher had 4 aces. Sam Carver and Shelby Harris each had several nice digs for the Lady Eagles. Olivia Gardner played well for the Lady Eagles, and Anna Sullivan had several nice blocks for the Lady Eagles. The Lady Eagles will return to action on Tuesday night at Broome High School. The Lady Eagles will look to improve to 2-0 in region play. Comments are closed.
