CHESNEE, SC - After a slow start to the season, the Chesnee volleyball team has been playing some strong volleyball of late as their 3-0 victory over Greenville Tech Charter on Thursday night puts the Eagles on a three-game region winning streak.
The Eagles took control of the match early on as they defeated the Warriors 25-13 in the first set before defeating them 25-20 in the second set to take a 2-0 lead in the match. Chesnee finished off the match capturing the third set with another impressive performance taking 25-15 win in the set and a 3-0 victory in the match. Eagles volleyball head coach Katie Jolley said that the crowd was great for her team in the match on Thursday night and she feels the team is finally hitting their stride. "We had another great student section that helped cheer on the girls tonight," said Jolley. "Our team is really starting to find our identity and we are playing well. I hope to continue the strong play during the next round of region play." Senior Pearl Holloway kept up her strong play this season finishing the match with a double-double registering 23 assists and 10 digs to go along with four kills and four ace serves. Hayden Roberts led the Eagles in kills with eight while her and teammate Harley Grady had big nights on defense as Roberts recorded 19 digs and Grady had 14 digs of her own. Maggie Blanton had a great net along the frontline grabbing six kills and a block while also adding an ace serve. Chesnee will be back in action on Monday at East Rutherfordton before jumping back into region play on Tuesday when they host Blacksburg. Comments are closed.
