The Chesnee Lady Eagles jumped out to an early 2-0 then fought off a fierce Spartanburg Christian Academy rally as the Lady Eagles defeated the Lady Warriors 3-2 on Monday night.
Chesnee jumped to a 10-5 lead in the first set. The Lady Eagles won 7 of the final 9 points to the first set 25-14. Chesnee got off to another strong start in the 2nd set with an early 6-2 lead, but SCA was able to rally back and keep it close for most of the set. Chesnee would close the match on 5 to 1 run and finished it off with two consecutive kills from Abbey Ray to win the 2nd set 25-20. SCA would answer back with back to back wire to wire wins in set 3 and 4 including a dominate 25-8 win in game 4. Chesnee would answer back with a 15-10 win in the 5th set to seal the match for the Lady Eagles. Chesnee did a great job of regrouping after dropping sets 3 and 4 to rally and win the 5th set. Senior Abby Fisher had another strong game for the Lady Eagles as she had a double double. Fisher finished with 47 assists and 10 digs. Abbey Ray and AC Yelton both continued their stellar play for the Eagles as they both finished with double doubles. Ray had 25 kills and 11 digs, and Yelton had 15 kills and 24 digs. Each had a piar of service aces. Shelby Harris and Sam Carver both had strong games defensively for the Lady Eagles as Harris finished with 10 digs and Carver had 8 digs. Olivia Gardner and Shenandoah Bishop also had nice nights as Gardner had 6 digs and Bishop had 6 kills. The Lady Eagles will travel to Chapman on Wednesday at 7pm.
