With rain coming down on Wednesday afternoon the Chesnee golf team hosted a matchup at Meadowbrook that saw St. Joseph's capture the victory over both Gaffney and the Eagles with a score of 153.
While the Eagles didn't come away with the victory on Tuesday they continued to improve on their individual and team scores in less than ideal conditions, which Chesnee head coach Andy Pitt says is an encouraging sign from his young team. "We had some tough conditions out there today and I was proud of how the guys battled through that," said Pitt. "Peyton had a solid round and all of the guys had their moments today. We're just searching for a little more consistency out of all them but I'm encouraged because our team score just continues to improve." Chesnee shot a team score of 176 on Wednesday, which was four shots less than just two days earlier. They were led on Wednesday by Peyton Lawter who shot a team low score of 39 followed closely by Creighton Rentz with a score of 42 and Jake Hefner with a score of 45. St. Joseph's Henry Hall won medalist honors with a score of 36 on Wednesday. "We will focus on the areas we need to improve in and look to keep moving forward," said Pitt. "It's an exciting time in our program and the kids are hungry to get better." Chesnee will return to the course on Tuesday when they host both Brashier Middle College and Greer Middle College at Meadowbrook at 4:00 PM. Comments are closed.
