CHESNEE, SC - Tuesday evening turned out to be a historic night for the Chesnee girl's soccer program as they not only held their first senior night but also picked up the first win in program history.
The Eagles downed the Greenville Technical Charter Warriors after winning 3-1 in penalty kicks after concluding regulation tied at 0-0 "This win was well deserved and I couldn't be prouder," said Chesnee head coach Megan Coffey. "They have worked so hard this season and have made huge strides in their development as individuals and as a team. This is only the beginning and I am blessed to have the opportunity to call them my team." The Eagles honored seniors Haley Edmonds, Paola De La Cruz, and Natalie Vasquez before the game. The Eagles used a strong defensive effort led by goalie Perrin Wood as she kept a clean sheet throughout regulation and overtime. Wood continued her impressive effort in penalty kicks as she came up with two massive saves and also scored one of the Eagle's three penalty kick goals. Reagan Crain and Emma Barrington also drilled penalty kicks for the Eagles. The Eagles will conclude the regular season on Friday when they host Spartanburg Christian Academy with a 5:30 PM kickoff.
