The Chapman Panthers downed the Chesnee Eagles 3-1 to win the Region II-3A Volleyball title on Tuesday night.
The Lady Eagles came out strong winning the first set 25-15 as Chesnee rallied back overcoming an early 6-1 deficit. Chapman took the second set 25-21 to tie the match at one. Chapman was victorious in the third set 25-15 as the Panthers made several nice digs on strikes from Abbey Ray and AC Yelton. Chapman also won the fourth set 25-21 to win the match and the Region II-3A Championship. The match had a playoff type feel to it and Chesnee Head Coach Katie Jolley was pleased to see her team embrace the atmosphere. "They loved the atmosphere,” said Coach Jolley. “They played better because of it." Chesnee got a monster game from Junior Abbey Ray who finished with twenty one digs and twenty two kills. AC Yelton also had a nice game with twelve kills and twenty digs. Libero Shelby Harris had a good night on the defensive end with a team high twenty nine kills. Senior Abby Fisher continued her steady play on senior night as she had thirty eight assists and nine digs while Olivia Gardner also played well defensively with thirteen digs. The Lady Eagles' next match will be their playoff opener as they will be at home at least through the first round. Comments are closed.
