The Chesnee Lady Eagles fell to region rival Landrum on Monday night 2-0. This turned out to be an historic night as the Lady Eagles ended the 76-game hitting streak of Landrum Catcher Sarah Price.
Chesnee Head Coach Ashley Height was pleased with how her team handled Price at the plate, "Sarah is an incredible athlete. I hate to see her streak end, but I'm glad we were the ones to do it. That was a big feat for us and a big feat for Sam. Sam did an incredible job against her knowing what she was going up against." Landrum got on the board early with a 1st inning solo home run for Alexus Atkins. The Cardinals would tack on another in the 3rd as Ellen Boatwright drove in McKenzie Suddeth. Chesnee Pitcher Sam Carver had a solid night on the mound for the Lady Eagles as she scattered 5 hits and only allowed two runs, while striking out 4. Chesnee Head Coach was pleased with her young freshman's performance, "with us being young I couldn't be more proud of our pitching, Sam and Paige (Scruggs), they have done an incredible job this year being able to keep us in games." Chesnee Head Coach Ashley Height was pleased with how her young team played against an experienced Landrum team, "Landrum is a really good team with those 6 seniors they have along with the rest of the girls. They are a top team and have been for a while. I had 8 that were freshmen and 8th graders out there competing against a Landrum powerhouse. It's wonderful for me looking forward at these girls and what they can do." Height said Chesnee will be back in action tomorrow eveningat St. Josephs at 5:30. Comments are closed.
