LANDRUM, SC - Chesnee and Landrum opened up region play on Thursday night in a matchup moved up for the incoming weather from Hurricane Ian, and it was the Cardinals that came away with the 28-0 victory in Region I-AA competition.
The Cardinals scored twice in the first half, with one score coming in each quarter of the half and capped off the scoring with two touchdowns in the fourth to prevent a Chesnee comeback. Link would ice the game with a fourth quarter touchdown run from fifty- six yards out, and Braden Mashtare would add a thirty yard touchdown run. Link finished with two hundred and twenty-one rushing yards with two scores. Mashtare would a hundred and one yards on the ground with a score. Austin Bigford led the Eagles with five and a half tackles. Wesley Wilkie, Ezequiel Lazarin, and Noah Lawter each had four tackles. Chesnee will be back at home next week when they host Abbeville.
